New Coach Joins The Spartan Football Program Bert Newton Promoted to Defensive Coordinator Coach Chris Yeager today announced the addition of Coach Shane Stearns to the Mountain Brook Spartan Football family. Coach Stearns will begin working at Mountain Brook full-time in June. In a related announcement, Coach Bert Newton will replace Coach Jim Kremer as defensive coordinator and linebacker coach while Coach Stearns will take over Coach Newton's responsibilities with the defensive line. Coach Stearns comes to Mountain Brook from Spain Park where he has served the last three years and before that Thompson High School for eight years. Coach Stearns was the offensive line coach and running game coordinator at Spain Park two years ago when the Jaguars played for the State Championship. He attended the University of North Alabama and played center on teams that won multiple National Championships.
